NMC Accepting Nominations for Election to Board of Directors – Due November 30

The New Media Caucus is accepting nominations for election to the Board of Directors as well as two officer positions: Chair of the Communications Committee and Curator of the Header/Footer Gallery.

The deadline for nominations is midnight EST November 30, 2021 at midnight.

BOARD MEMBERS – 5 Members

New board members will be joining an international team of dynamic practitioners and scholars who make up the twenty-one person board. The Board is engaged with the daily operation of the organization as well as collaborative committee initiatives for Communications, the Media-N journal, and Exhibitions and Events. Board Members duties include attending Board Meetings, participating on committees, and offering their expertise and assistance in the operation and development of the New Media Caucus. Board Members actively participate in attracting new Members and organizational sponsors and positively represent and promote the New Media Caucus. Board members are required to pay a $100.00 per year membership fee.

Board Members serve a three-year term beginning at the close of the Annual Regular Meeting of the Organization. They join one or more of the NMC’s standing committees and/or work on NMC initiatives. The next meeting will take place virtually during the College Art Association Conference in February of 2021.

Any member of the New Media Caucus is eligible to make nominations and be nominated to the Board. Self-nominations are encouraged and accepted.

OFFICER POSITIONS (2 positions)

Chair of the Communications Committee (AKA ComCom)
The Chair of the Resources Committee must be a Board Member in good standing or a person otherwise involved in NMC initiatives. The mission of the Communications Committee is to facilitate and develop contact between members of the New Media Caucus through the coordination of listserv mailings, maintenance of websites, and social networking profiles of the organization. The responsibilities of the Communications Committee and Chair include:

Committee:

  • Develop and distribute electronic newsletter and announcements
  • Manage HUB content, including the Member Spotlights and Resources Spotlights
  • Manage and maintain NMC website
  • Manage and maintain NMC social networking profiles
  • Website support for initiatives such as the Triennial Symposia, fundraisers, etc.
  • Organize and maintain NMC digital images and other data – ongoing archiving initiative:

Chair:

  • Schedule and prepare agenda for ComC0m meetings (meeting frequency is up to the chair/ committee to decide), and run the meetings
  • Delegate responsibilities to ComCom members and coordinate efforts
  • Involve all ComCom members in decision-making
  • Serve on and report activities to the Executive Committee of New Media Caucus, which meets monthly

Curator of Header/Footer Gallery
The Curator of Header/Footer Gallery will work with the Communications Committee to organize and curate the Header/Footer Gallery. Header/Footer Gallery is a digital exhibition space hosted on the New Media Caucus Web Presence. New shows will be curated or guest-curated by NMC members every 3-4 months. H/F utilizes various NMC platforms to highlight the work of our members, allowing us to promote the creative output of our members and situate their work in thoughtfully curated exhibitions that take place across our entire web presence. This space should continue to reflect the NMC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

If you are not ready to commit to a Board level position, we strongly encourage all New Media Caucus members to get actively involved with one of our standing committees. We are currently looking for new members to join the exciting new Grants, Scholarships & Finance (GSF), which manages and fundraises for NMC opportunities and scholarships. Other standing committees include Events & Exhibitions; Resources; Communications.
