Focus area: Art Theory, Critical Theory

Born in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand, Finn Petrie is an interdisciplinary artist and scientist currently based in Chicago. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) First Class in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Otago, a Masters of Visual Arts (with Distinction) from the Dunedin School of Art, and is currently pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering/neuroscience at Northwestern University. His creative practice and technological works draw from research into post-human theory, computer science, biology, mathematics, and the surrounding social relations of these fields. In this way he is concerned with ways of making with the more-than-human world, bringing us closer to those who are ontologically distant through the use of modern and emerging technologies.
