Zhang Ga
Curatorat Chronus Art CenterZHANG Ga is a media art curator. He is Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Art and Technology at China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). Previously, he was a Professor at Tsinghua University, and Associate Professor of Media Art at Parsons School of Design, and has held visiting positions at UCSB, the MIT Media Lab, Stanford University, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). He was curator of three editions of NAMOC International Media Art Triennial organized by the National Art Museum of China, including Synthetic Times (2008, an Olympics project), translife (2011), thingworld (2011). His most current curatorial projects include the inaugural CAFAM Techne Triennial: Topologies of the Real (2020); As We May Think: The 6th Guangzhou Triennial (2018, Guangdong Art Museum); Datumsoria: The Return of the Real (2017-2018, ZKM | Karlsruhe); unREAL: The Algorithmic Present (2017, HeK | Basel). ZHANG Ga speaks widely on media art and culture and his edited books and essays have been published by the MIT Press, October, Flash Art, Liverpool University Press and Tsinghua University Press. He serves on the editorial board of Leonardo Books. He is also co-curator of ZKM | HONG Media Art Collection. Since 2015, he directs Chronus Art Center in Shanghai.
