Michael Bennett
Director of Student Experiential Immersion Programsat University of IllinoisMichael Bennett’s research and advisory work focus on the societal implications of emerging technoscience, STEAM and STEM projects, domestic and international intellectual property law and policy, and foresight strategies. His related art practice spans digital painting, experimental printmaking and quilt design. At Arizona State University Michael is an Associate Research Professor in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society, in ASU’s Center for Science and the Imagination, and in its Risk Innovation Lab; he is also a lecturer in the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and a Faculty Fellow in that the School's Center for Law, Science and Innovation. Michael serves as Special Advisor on Technology and Legal Practice at the Northeastern University School of Law’s NuLawLab in Boston, and Fellow of the non-partisan think tank New America. He received a physics B.S. from Florida A&M, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Michael is a member of the Illinois and Michigan bars, and the American Bar Association, and he serves as the president of the Society for the Studies of New and Emerging Technologies.
