Musician & Researcherat Centre for Music & Technology, Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki

Dominik Schlienger is a musician and researcher from Switzerland, living in Finland. He has a practical background in music technology development, He is interested in agency in technology, and technologies as socio-material arrangements. In his recent thesis (2022), he argues that "computers are to the brain what a hammer is to the hand", and that thus the responsibility for all technologies, however seemingly "autonomous" they seem, lies firmly with the appropriating agency of the technology-instituting human.
Along research into the ethical implications of what is commonly described as "AI", he is currently co-developing  a low carbon footprint performance stage, which runs on muscle power provided by the participating audience pedalling on bike-generators.
