Abstract: Networked information began to offer us new dimensions in the creation, storage and share of knowledge at the turn of the millennium. In contrast to the nature of these changes, the Internet had only been presented to society as a miracle tool for direct marketing physical products by business literature. This thesis brings evidence from net-art experiments and argues that the improvements in “new media” should not only be sought regarding to its material reflections but also in its power for de-materialisation. Furthermore it argues that the revolution should be sought within in its own dynamics and with an interdisciplinary approach.
