Abstract: Abstract The historical and theoretical study of the relationship between art and cybernetics carried out in this Ph.D. dissertation is the basis for the conceptual coordinates identified to understand the interface in our time-now. Thus, surpassing former definitions or explanations exclusively based on the interaction with a screen, the idea of interface today deployed in this work is that it has to be understood as a means through which people communicate in a liquid space between screens that shape a hybrid reality between a physical world and a digital existence. Understanding the interface from this theoretical approach and regarding interactive art or design within the connected world, this dissertation raises the different problems related to creation, preservation, archiving or dissemination of these cultural manifestations. Classifying such creations from the Theory of Generations –based on the generation loss and to account for the relationship between an artwork and the state of consciousness in which it was created– as work created in first generation and second or later, allow us to put forward three ways / projects in order to solve the conceptual, theoretical and technical problems linked to their hybrid existence: •The Archive way, based on the experience of research projects such as SAOMA, raises the need for digital restoration, the necessary existence of a story, and exhaustive documentation for those productions that already exist only in second or later generations. •The Terminal system offers a specific theoretical and technical solution for intangible cultural production that allows its conservation (emulation) in cases where it is still possible and its subsequent preservation. Terminal is also a system that responds to the exhibition and market needs for intangible work created in first generation and even second or later. •RECC (Revista Experimental de Cultura Contemporánea - Experimental Journal of Contemporary Culture) is proposed as the actual way to create in first generation within the interface world in which it is a plane that will allow knowledge and cultural production of this time-now to become.
