Allan Graubard is a poet, playwright, critic, and publisher translated into numerous languages. His recent books include Language of Birds (Anon Edition, NY/Flagstaff, 2019), Western Terrace (Exstasis Edition, Victoria BC, 2019), and Into the Mylar Chamber: Ira Cohen (Fulgur, UK, 2019). He collaborates with a host of creators in art, music, dance, and science, from the Alice Farley Dance Company, the late, celebrated composer/conductor Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris, and artists Rik LIna and Gregg Simpson, to climate scientist Hans Von Storch, the late geophysicist Cinna Lomnitz, meteorologists Robert and Joanne Simpson, and more. Allan's theater works have premiered in New York City, Washington, DC, Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Sibiu, Romania. He has appeared as guest writer at MOMA PS1, NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, Bowery Poetry Club, Romanian Cultural Institute (NYC); Wesleyan University (CT); Catholic University of America (Washington, DC); University of Colorado, Boulder (CO), and has lectured at other premiere institutions, including University of Oxford. He reads his work and that of other writers widely, from New York City, London and Los Angeles to New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana, as elsewhere. His book reviews appear in Leonardo, Los Angeles Review of Books, American Book Review, Hyperion, Pacific Rim Review of Books, and other venues. Because of it all, despite it all, he seeks the warm transparent breadth of living completely, which he has found when he least expects it.
