Laser Zurich is an integral part of the upcoming exhibition and intervention called Future Plan(t)s. The future of our plants is one of humanity’s biggest challenges. What reactions do these artists have about the current scientific discourse and the future of plants? What is the future of plants and their interplay under drought conditions from climate change? Should plants be redesigned for climate adaptation or diversified? Will they lose their nutrition? Can our soil, our seeds and our water be preserved? In this exhibition 15 well-known artists reflect on these questions in a greenhouse exhibition pavilion of the SAE Sustainable Agroecosystem Group in the Department of Environmental Systems Science at the ETHZ.
This LASER Talk will address the following questions:
- What are the soil management practices that can be implemented to face our changing environment? How can it be different between agroecosystems?
- How can we ensure that biodiversity and living community are sustained or regenerated in soil?
- How can we enhance and improve the relationships between the soil and plants) How to foster a resilient cropping system?

LASERZURICH aims to raise awareness about the future of plants, soil, nutrition, food, and water. These artistic reactions will be fostered by a process that creates and is reflected by contact with scientists in the field of sustainable agrosystems.

Future Plan(t)s will host two public LASER panels. These discourses will be held with artists, theorists and scientists on the communication, ethics, knowledge, and sustainability of plants. This series is linked to the international network of Leonardo Magazine USA and will include researchers in sustainable systems.
