CripTech Incubator fellow Andy Slater awarded US Artists 2022 fellowship

CripTech Incubator fellow Andy Slater has been awarded a prestigious United States Artists fellowship. Awarded in the category of Media Arts, the fellowship honors his work as a blind artist and advocate shaping the extended and virtual reality industry to be more accessible for disabled people. Based in Chicago, Slater is a media artist, sound designer, teaching artist and disability advocate who has been innovating and advocating for accessible art and technology, al text for sound and image, sci-fi, spacial audio for extended reality, and sound design for film and video games. As a 2022 USA Fellow, Slater is in the company of several other disabled creatives working at the frontier of access, including the Critical Design Lab, Indira Allegra, and Leroy F. Moore Jr.
