Artificial Intelligence and The Technological Imaginary 人工智能与技术意象

Abstract 摘要

This paper situates the current iteration of artificial intelligence in a historical context to introduce the Technological Imaginary as a recent concept that can throw light upon why the technologies that we use have the form that they do. The Technological Imaginary is explored here in relation to the post-war development of AI in a summary of Accidental Machines to highlight the imaginary aspect of computer-based technological solutions to the creation of human intelligence. It concludes by suggesting how discussions of AI might benefit from recognizing the power of human agency in technological form and the visions for its future.

本文将当前人工智能的迭代置于历史背景之下，介绍了“技术意象”（Technological Imaginary）这一新近提出的概念，这一概念可以揭示我们所用技术的形态呈现原因所在。为突出基于计算机的技术解决方案在创造人类智能方面的意象层面作用，本文结合《意外机器》（Accidental Machines）一书中对战后人工智能发展的总结，对技术意象进行了探讨。最后，本文建议在讨论人工智能时应认识到技术形态中人类主体的力量，并提出了对其未来的展望。
