Ersan Ocak is an independent filmmaker, teacher and social
researcher. He makes short films, documentaries, experimental video
films, video installations, and video performances. His teaching
experience includes both theoretical and practical courses on cinema
and video-art in the Audio-Visual Systems Research and Production
Center in Middle East Technical University and Television and Cinema
Department in Baskent University in Turkey. In his social and
cultural research, he concentrates on city/space/place, the
relations/interactions among space/place, body and memory, and urban
politics, culture and sociology. In the last five years, he has been
mostly studying imaging technologies, especially medical ones, and
their relations with the female body and space/place.
Ocak is a member of the ěkorotonomedyaî group, which was constituted in 1993 as a gathering of some intellectuals in Ankara, Turkey, who share similar political and artistic tendencies. He also works in collaboration with [laboratuar], which is a contemporary dance initiative, in making conceptual design and video works within [laboratuar]ís performances. | |
