Maya Minder, eatart, curator and bioartist based in Zurich and Paris.
Zurich,
Switzerland
Focus area: Art History

Maya Minder (CH/ROK) lives and works between Paris and Zurich. She is artist, chef and organiser, co-founded a DIYbio lab with hackteria.org. She is an independent lecturer in fermentation within Michelin Guide chef Stefan Wiesner’s Natur-Akademie and studied Art History at the University of Zurich and Fine Arts at the Zurich University of Arts. Besides her bioart practice she is a food activist and independent organiser.
«Cooking thus transforms us», is a framework Maya Minder weaves like a string through her work. She uses cooking as a metaphor for human transformation of raw nature into cooked culture. She entangles evolutionary ideas of co-existence, domestication, and symbiosis in posthuman non-binary nature/culture context and creates entanglements between human commodities and nature animism, a table of diversity, not yet fully digested. Following the Biohacker, Maker and Third space movement she uses grassroots ideas, safe zones and citizen science for collective storytelling through food and cooking.
