Kirill Sokolov was born in Moscow in 1930. He was educated at the Special Art School in Moscow and at the Surikov Institute in Moscow. He moved to England in 1974. In 1976 he became a co-editor of Leonardo.
He has been included in exhibitions in the Gulbenkian Gallery, Newcastle, Durham University, St. Helier, C.I., London University, Bishopsgate Foundation, Academy of Art, Riga, House of Artists, Krymskaia Naberezhnaia, Moscow, Art Gallery, Perm, Hatton Gallery Newcastle and various venues in the U.S.S.R., China, U.S.A., Norway and Germany. He has work in various public collections including: the Pushkin Museum, the Trediakov Gallery, the Latvian State Museum of Arts, the Graphic Archive, Munich, the Perm Gallery, the Optyno-Pustyn, Taras Shevchenko, the Dostoevsky and Aleksandr Blok Memorial Museums, the Shakespeare Memorial Museum, Stratford-on-Avon, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Faust Society, Knittlingen, the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, Hatton Gallery, Newcastle. He is a painter, printmaker, illustrator, sculptor and engraver. |
