Dusan Barok was born 1979 in Bratislava, Slovakia. He studied information technologies in
Bratislava and mass media communication in Trnava, Slovakia. In 2003 he
co-founded Bratislava-based BURUNDI media lab and organised there the
series of experimental lectures Translab. Developed open source software
for online group-help "backstage" and a number of websites for artistic
and cultural organisations, festivals and projects. Since 2004 he has been
involved in coordination of Multiplace network culture festival, organised
worldwide. In 2006 he taught interactive media at Prague
College in Prague. Since 2004 he has administered a wiki-based portal,
Monoskop, for research of social and institutional history of media art.
Collaboration with 13m3 initiative led in 2006 and 2007 to organisation of
series of two-week long Summer Open Academies in Bratislava,
workshop-based events examining collaboration and experimentation between
artistic, technical, media and humanistic fields. He also collaborates with OKNO and Atrakt Art (3/4 magazine) initiatives. Barok lives
in Prague, Berlin and Bratislava.
