Ryan Jordan is an electronic noise artist whose work explores noise and a literal approach to DIY electronics. Recent projects include the creation of crude amplifiers, transistors, diodes and solar cells constructed with raw metals and mineral ores to generate sound and music. His live performances combine these with the use of high powered strobe lights in attempts to create powerful hallucinations. These projects have been presented internationally as live performances and workshops at festivals, concerts and conferences including Sonic Protest Festival, France; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA; Subtle Technologies, Canada; Media Art Histories, Latvia; The Metamorphoses of the Virtual, Venice; Wysing Arts Centre, UK; FACT, UK; Club Transmediale, Germany; Piksel Festival, Norway; ICA, UK; Transe(s) Symposium, France; as well as numerous self-organised concerts and workshops in the UK and Europe. He also runs noise=noise, a experimental noise research laboratory and live performance platform operating as an open place for people to experiment with electronic music and art. Jordan holds a BA in Sonic Arts, Middlesex University; MFA in Computational Studio Art, Goldsmiths College; an da PhD in the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.
