I am the founder of RNASA-IMEDIR multidisciplinary group at University of A Coruña (UDC) from 1991, currently we are 30 members (25 Ph.D.) focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) grounded in biological processes like Artificial Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, etc. applied to the art, biomedical field, etc.

I have a degree in Medicine and general surgery from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela; Ms in Knowledge Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid; PhD in Medicine from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid; and PhD in Computer Science from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Since 1999, I am Full Professor in the area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of UDC.

My google scholar h index of 35 and an i10 index of 104 with 5.740 cites (https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=bPAk6fYAAAAJ&hl=es) including more than 200 publications and 100 presentations in scientific conferences. I had supervised 21 Doctoral Theses and been the principal research of more than 75 research projects (USA, Latin Americans, Europeans, National and Regional) and more than 30 cooperation agreements with companies. I have done more than 25 patents and software registrations, 3 of them actually in operation, 2 of them in USA.

I have recived numerous awards and recognitions: “National Computer and Health Award”, 2015; “Naval Merit Cross with white badge” for his collaboration with Ministry of Defense – Spanish Navy, 2016; “Galician man of the year 2015”; Honorific Member of CPEIG (Professional Assoc. of Computer Science Engineers of Galicia), June 2016; ...
