I am adjunct Professor of Art History at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, art critic and curator. I taught at the László Moholy-Nagy University and the Eötvös Loránd University, Dept. of Esthetics in my native Budapest, and was Visiting Professor at UCLA, the College of Santa Fe, and taught at OTIS College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. I served as book review editor for Centropa, a New York-based scholarly journal focusing on Central European art.

My books include Hungarian Art. Confrontation and Revival in the Modern Movement (Los Angeles, DoppelHouse Press, 2017); The Bauhaus Idea and Bauhaus Politics (Budapest, Oxford, New York: CEU Press 1995), the co-edited volume (with T. O. Benson) Between Worlds: A Sourcebook of Central European Avant-Gardes (The MIT Press, 2002), and two volumes of essays. My new book, The Circle of the Square: Malevich, Interwar Modernism and its Revival in the 1960s is due to be published this year.
