Iouliani Theona

Iouliani Theona is a researcher, educator and transdisciplinary creative practitioner. She holds a PhD in research approaches to technologically mediated spatial experience at the School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens [NTUA], with a research under the title: “Investigating the experience of technologically mediated public space, through playful artworks, applications and installations.” After graduating from the Department of Architecture [Aristotle University of Thessaloniki], she pursued a Master’s degree in the field of Architectural Design [NTUA] and a Master’s degree in “Digital Communication Media and Interactive Environments” [National and Kapodistrian University of Athens - NKUA].
Currently, she is an Academic Fellow in the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema [NKUA]. Her teaching, as well as research interests focus on artistic research and art – science collaborations, with a particular focus on art practices that engage with the environment and contribute to ecological awareness.
She has participated in a variety of research projects, as well as in the design and implementation of interactive, immersive artworks. and is a founding member of the organizing committee for the Hybrid City Conference series.
