Paula Perissinotto holds a Ph.D. in Visual Poetics from ECA/USP. She is a curator and researcher with a well-established career in the fields of contemporary art, digital culture, and new media. As co-founder and co-organizer of FILE – Electronic Language International Festival, since 2000 she has become one of the leading figures in the promotion and dissemination of digital art in Brazil and internationally. Over more than two decades, she has curated and coordinated over 50 exhibitions exploring the intersections of art, technology, science, and interactivity, establishing FILE as one of the world’s most important platforms dedicated to electronic art.
Her trajectory combines critical thinking, academic research, and innovative curatorial practices. She is an associate researcher in the thematic project “Digital Archives and Research: Art, Architecture, and Technology” and a member of the Realidades research group at ECA/USP, where she investigates the relationship between analog and digital archives, with a focus on the documentation and preservation of born-digital artworks. Since 2020, she has led initiatives that place FILE within international networks dedicated to the preservation of new media art, fostering collaborations with institutions such as ACM SIGGRAPH, Ars Electronica, ZKM | Center for Art and Media, and the Archive of Digital Art (ADA).
Her work stands out for its ability to bridge curatorship, cultural production, and networked research, making a significant contribution to strengthening the memory, circulation, and sustainability of digital art on a global scale.
