Ashlin Hunter

Los Angeles,
United States
Focus area: Computer Music, Electroacoustic Music, Sonification

Ashlin Hunter is a composer whose music is found at the intersection of obsession and wonder. Her work unfolds through the relationships between identity and creativity, grounding itself in the principle that process is expression. Ashlin’s music has been shaped by her love of process-based music; her work explores algorithmic and generative systems as a way to prioritize discovery in her creative practice, and she often builds iterative digital instruments to use as tools for composing in both acoustic and electronic realms. Ashlin’s current projects put her generative systems in dialogue with her earliest musical memories of folk and sacred music from Oklahoma. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Southern California where her research focuses on the intersections of creativity, disability, accessibility, and technology in music spaces.
