Gyung Jin Shin
Assistant Professorat Hong Kong Baptist UniversityGyung Jin Shin is a multimedia artist and researcher based in Hong Kong and Seoul. With a background in sculpture and new media, she has incorporated a wide range of digital media into artworks in contexts including physical computing, programming, 3D modeling, and digital fabrication.
Her recent projects focus on the historical and social context of technicity, thereby drawing attention to the new ontological states that emerge with the development of technology. She is currently exploring issues of digital labor and new author discourse brought about by the advent of smart machines.
Her practical and academic projects have been presented at international conferences and festivals, including the Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Doosan Gallery in New York, Chelsea Museum of Art in New York, Fisher Landau Center in New York, Incheon Women Artists' Biennale, Gangwon Triennale, Prix Video Formes in France, and ISEA in 2019 and 2023. She is an Assistant Professor in the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University.
