Mark Mayer has an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a PhD from the University of Denver. From 2012 to 2014, he lived at Cornell College’s Center for the Literary Arts as the Robert P. Dana Emerging Writer. His first book, AERIALISTS, won the Michener-Copernicus Prize and was shortlisted for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. He has been published in American Short Fiction, the Kenyon Review, Guernica, the Iowa Review, Best American Mystery Stories, and the New York Times and interviewed in the Paris Review and BOMB. He is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Memphis.
