Haein Kang is an artist and researcher of experimental digital arts, born and raised in Seoul, living and working in Seattle since 2014. She holds a BFA in Painting from Hong-Ik University (KR), an MFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute (US), and a Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) from the University of Washington (US).
Dr. Kang began her career as an artist in 2002 by winning Construct2, an installation art award hosted by San Francisco Arts Commission (US). She held a solo exhibition at the Drawing Center of the Seoul Olympic Museum of Art in 2009 (KR) and received an Honorary Mention in the sound art section of the Prix Ars Electronica in 2019 (AT). In addition, her work has been internationally presented at various venues, such as San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, Richard Levy Gallery, Gallery 4Culture, ICMC-NYCEMF, IEEE-Gem, SIGGRAPH-Asia, ISEA, and CODAME ART+TECH.
