Jadwiga Charzynska obtained the MFA degree at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts of the State College of Visual Arts in Gdańsk in 1994. Since 2004 she has been director of LAZNIA Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdansk. Her most important long-term program initiatives at the LAZNIA are: Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk (launched in 2005) and Art+Science Meeting  In 2008 she obtained the Award of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk in category Culture. In the same year, along with the entire LAZNIA team, Charzyńska obtained the Bronze Medal “Merit to Culture Gloria Artis”, awarded by Minister of Culture and National Heritage. In 2015 she received a special award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in recognition of “inestimable merits for Polish culture”.
