Steven J. Frank, a co-founder and principal of Art Eye-D Associates LLC, is an intellectual property lawyer, computer scientist, and inventor.  His research interests focus on applying artificial intelligence to detail-level analysis of two-dimensional representations – primarily artwork (paintings and drawings) and medical images.  He and his research partner and wife, art historian Andrea M. Frank, have assessed the authenticity of Leonardo da Vinci’s (?) Salvator Mundi, numerous works by Rembrandt and Van Gogh, and, most recently, Renaissance chalk and pen drawings.  His work on the medical side involves lightweight neural networks, deployable on mobile devices, for classifying and mapping tumor regions in gigapixel-scale biopsy slides.
