Robert W. Sweeny, PhD, MFA, is Professor of Art Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His research interests are primarily in the areas of digital visual culture; he is specifically interested in the relationships between art education and network science, surveillance, digital games, mobile digital media, and makerspaces. He is the author of Dysfunction and Decentralization in New Media Art Education (Intellect Press, 2015), and is the editor of Inter/Actions/ Inter/Sections: Art Education in a Digital Visual Culture (NAEA Press, 2011). He is the Incoming Senior Editor of Studies in Art Education (2021-2023) and the former Editor of The Journal of the National Art Education Association (2012-2014) and the Journal of Social Theory and Art Education (2009-2011). His research has been published widely in journals such as Studies in Art Education, Visual Arts Research, The Journal of The International Society of Education through Art, and the Journal of Social Theory in Art Education
