Eliot North, Tyne and Wear, England. Writer. North is a writer, doctor and medical educator who lives and works in the North East of England. She won the EuroStemCell Imaginative Non-Fiction Poetry Competition in 2013 and was commended for the Hippocrates Poetry Prize 2014. North was commended for the National Poetry Competition 2014 with her poem The Crab Man, which she made into a Filmpoem with artist and filmmaker Alastair Cook in 2015. She writes prose and poetry, has been published in Firewords Quarterly, Sructo, Acumen, and Ink, Sweat & Tears and was voted as Guest Poem Choice and Poem of the Month in the latter two publications. Ink, Sweat & Tears submitted her poem My Mother Visits The Dissection Room for the 2017 Forward Prizes for Poetry, Best Single Poem in March 2017. She is also Founding and Creative Director of MiLAN (Medicine in Literature and the Arts at Newcastle) a collective of staff and students who seek to champion the role of the arts in medical education and public engagement around health http://milancollective.uk.
