Christin Bolewski
Senior Lecturerat Loughborough UniversityChristin Bolewski has been conducting activities in the merging fields of digital and traditional arts, film and new technologies as a digital media artist and filmmaker, researcher and educator for nearly 30 years. She has been educated at Academy of Media Arts Cologne Germany and has been a researcher and lecturer at Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Konstfack Stockholm, UCSC California, Loughborough University UK and was a Professor at FH Lemgo Germany. Her artistic practice and teaching is mainly engaged with the exploration of digital audiovisual technologies and the internet and how these tools re-define, remediate or develop audiovisual culture and global communication. Her work is a critical investigation of the potential of digital media to expand the aesthetic possibilities of audiovisual / film art. It includes genre mix and hybrid forms such as experimental documentary / animation / narrative and cinematic essay; video and sound sampling; internet and participatory film; video paintings and nonlinear database narrative or multichannel video installation. She works with combination of still and moving image and digital sound compositions. Since 1995, Bolewski’s work has been exhibited at international exhibition spaces such as Bundeskunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Bonn, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Centre international d'art contemporain de Montreal, Dt. Kinemathek Berlin, Maison de l'UNESCO Paris, Centro Nacional de las Artes Mexico City, Centre d'Art Contemporain de Basse-Normandie France, Museum Ludwig Köln, Musee d’Histoire du Luxembourg, Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, Centre for Art and Media ZKM Karlsruhe, Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, Kunsthalle Basel Switzerland, MAC de la UNL Santa Fe Argentina, etc. She presents her work at international conferences such as SIGGRAPH or ISEA and is an active member of the Editorial Board of EVA London Conference.
