Abstract: The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the fundamental shortcomings of art education of the present day and has offered an opportunity to reform the art education framework of higher education. The primary aim of this study was to determine the most optimal synthesis of traditional and digital technologies for the reformation of today’s art education. As the coronavirus pandemic bears many resemblances to the time of World War I, the study researched the art education of the Bauhaus that set a valuable example for reconstructing art education in the aftermath of the crisis. Along with historical data, contemporary qualitative data was collected from interviews. The findings disclose insider knowledge of the participants during the lockdown period due to the COVID-19 pandemic and their vision of ideal art education for the post-pandemic world. The historical and qualitative data show that overcoming challenges requires mutual effort and creative proactivity. Fusing principles of traditional art education with digital technologies is intrinsic in reforming art education of higher education. Not to mention the benefits for the generations to come, the study could also support those who seek to establish ubiquitous art education environments in both physical and virtual spaces.
