Sohn Youngsil is best noted for theorist and curator in photography and media art and is now professor, department Photo & Video at Kyungil University, in South Korea. Her area of expertise is a theory of contemporary art which can be focused on photography and media art with special interest of contemporary art and visual culture from literacy theory, semiotics

She graduated from Seoul National University(BS) and Paris 8 Univeristy (MA and Ph. D), and worked as a post-doc researcher(Media Art), in the Soongsil University and as a curator in Seoul Museum of art. .She have already organized meaningful exhibition as a chief curator in Seoul Photo Festival 2011 and the 4th Daegu International Photography Festival 2012, etc. Her articles have been presented in Journal of Art & Media, Journal of Contemporary Art History, Journal of Korean Basic Design, Leonardo, etc.
