Clare Marie Moriarty is an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow based at the Philosophy Department of Trinity College Dublin. Her research focuses on the history of philosophy and the history of mathematics. Recent publications have discussed: George Berkeley's role in the development of calculus; Berkeley's mathematical rhetoric and its function in his social philosophy; Colin Maclaurin's engagement with anti-mathematical philosophy; the philosophical pedigree of the ad hominem argument; and, 19th century Irish polymath Oliver Byrne's life and mathematics.
