R. Max Gavrich (b. San Francisco) is an artist, writer, and educator.

His recent work plays with the transference between the body and material objects. Across photographs, video, and installation, Gavrich explores the dichotomies of play and violence, aggression and care within specific rituals of male bonding and performance and the ways in which these forces come together and fall apart, function and fail.

Previous exhibitions include Winter Street Gallery, Five Points Gallery, the Vermont Center for Photography, the Museo San Rocco, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, among others.

He holds an MFA from Yale University and a BA from Bard College.
