Pelenakeke Brown (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and writer. Currently she is the Artistic Director at Touch Compass a performance company that supports disabled creatives but prior to that role she was based in New York City as an independent artist and the assistant director at Culture Push. 

She has performed, exhibited and published her work in the US, UK, Germany and Aotearoa. In 2020 she was recognised with a Pacific Toa award at the Creative New Zealand Pacific Arts Awards as well as received a Dance/NYC’s Disability Dance Artistry Award in 2019. 

She has worked with The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Gibney Dance Center, The Goethe Institute and other cultural Institutions. 

She has held residencies with Eyebeam (NY), AXIS Dance Company (CA), The Laundromat Project (NY), Denniston Hill (NY) and The Vermont Studio Center (VT) amongst others. 

Her non-fiction creative work has been published in The Hawai‘i Review, Apogee Journal, and the Movement Research Performance Journal.
