Giulia Vismara is an electroacoustic composer and researcher. She earned a Phd in Architecture and Design from the University of Venice, IUAV, with the thesis: Correspondences and interactions between sound, space and body, strategies for a sound design of space. She holds a Degree in musicology from the University of Bologna and a MA in music and new technology from the Conservatory of Florence and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. She studied sound design for cinema and attended different workshops about acousmatic and electroacoustic composition (Wishart, Barrett, Ferreyra). She is mainly concerned with the organic nature of sound and the development of textures which combine concrete and synthetic elements. Her works range from electroacoustic music to sound installation, music for theatre, performance and video art. Space is the key to her work, the matrix that shapes the music as well as the sounds she composes. Currently her focus is on 3D audio diffusion.
