Erik Brunvand is a Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah. His research interests are generally related to computer design and implementation, from high-level computer architecture designs to integrated circuit implementation. His research group is currently working on designing special-purpose graphics processors for ray tracing. 

Professor Brunvand has a strong interest as an educator in arts/technology collaborations. Starting in 2009 he has co-developed and taught a collaborative course with a colleague in the Art Department at the University of Utah entitled Embedded Systems and Kinetic Art. His own art is typically mixed media and includes traditional printmaking, sound, electronics, light, and kinetic sculptural aspects.
