Fernando Martín Velazco
Captainat Stultifera Navis InstitutomHe is a storyteller and multidisciplinary art researcher, as well as captain of the Stultifera Navis Institutom, a creative expeditions platform. His work focuses on the field of expanded arts based on research processes in natural areas.
He coordinates the art-science cycle “The Leviathan’s Playing” and carries out research on gray whales on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. The project has been supported with the ACT-UNAM grant (2018) and recognized with the second prize of Barcelona’s Quo Artis Award. He has written in cultural media and for peer-reviewed magazines (Media-N, Leonardo). He has participated in artist residency programs in Mexico, the US, Austria, and Saudi Arabia. He is the author of “Viajera del Noroeste” (The Northwest Traveler) (2022), a transmedia project about gray whales’ cultural history.
