Georg Mühleck
German-Canadian artist Mühleck lives and works on the remote Scottish north coast, as well as Toronto and Cologne. Coming from drawing and painting (with Klaus Basset) to Copigraphy, Mühleck moved on to visual digital work in the late 1980s. He is fascinated with the area of conflict between nature and synthetically generated life, artificial reality (artificial life). In his recent research he is developing a visual language, which combines the synthetical with the evolved. Algorithms and Photography form an image. Mühleck uses technology in an analysing sense — despite fascination, rather critical than glorifying. His medium is observation and thought.
The rendering of his work can be seen in galleries and in public space. It was commissioned for different buildings: music school, prison, sports hall, office building, cemetery, hospital and scientific institutes. Mühleck’s research was sponsored by the Canada Council, Kunstfonds e.V. Bonn, Museum Gladbeck and Gouvernement du Québec.
