Dr. Jacobs is known for her research in head and neck cancers and has held several leadership positions in the cancer arena nationally. Dr. Jacobs received the Rambar Award for excellence in clinical care. She has expertise treating a wide variety of cancers. Jacobs is also a writer and participated in the first Djerassi Scientific Delirum Madness residency, where she worked on her book about Jonas Salk, the creator of the polio vaccine
