Vanessa Badagliacca is a researcher at the Art History Institute at NOVA University in Lisbon. She holds a Ph.D. in Contemporary Art History from NOVA FCSH. In 2016 she defended her thesis entitled, Organic Materiality in 20th Century Art. Plants and (Human and Non-Human) Animals from Representation to Materialization, for which she was awarded an FCT grant. Her research interests cover artistic practices from the second half of the 20th century to the present, spanning between materiality, sciences, the geographies of life, and environmental issues, and are also reflected in her curatorial practice.
