Patricia Search is a Professor and artist in the Department of Communication and Media at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. She is also the Director of Rensselaer’s Center for Global Communicaton+Design. Patricia has exhibited her art in 41 solo exhibitions and multimedia installations, and she has participated in over 150 juried group exhibitions throughout the world. She was awarded a Fellowship in Computer Art from the New York Foundation for the Arts and received a Fulbright Senior Specialists Grant to work on multimedia projects with two Australian universities. She received awards for her research in interaction design and digital art from the World Conference on Educational Multimedia and Hypermedia and the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA). She was also awarded the IVLA Creative Achievement Award and the James G. Sucy Distinguished Service Award for contributions to the field of visual literacy. She served as Co-Editor of the Journal of Visual Literacy, was President of IVLA from 2009-2010, and served on the Board for the Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts.
