My work centers around the idea of gener-

ations and how we become who we are,

because of how we were raised and what we

experience. I believe people share similar

basic experiences and that we as humans

aren't so different from each other or

from our ancestors. To allow the viewer to

bring their own family history to my

images, I use found 19th Century portraits

				to create a collective history.

In the way of Tradition, 2 speaks specifically

about families, aging, and loyalties. The title

has a double meaning; standing in the way of,

or preventing tradition, as well as following

				tradition.

				process:

Created on a Mac IIci, 250mb hard disk, 20mb

ram using Adobe Photoshop. Photographic mater-

ials were scanned using a Microtek flatbed

scanner. The file was then outputted to a 4"

x 5" transparency from a Solitarie film recorder

				then printed through traditional photography.
