In her work, Paula Flores attempts to represent the complexity of nature as it relates to our knowledge and ignorance that we have towards it. She treats themes such as immigration and the disappearance of native cultures as a result of modern industry: the space these cultures occupy and how they've changed according to its commodification. Making use of diverse artistic disciplines and a mix of organic and industrial materials, she creates a dialogue regarding the current situation between human and nature. Paula is part of a collective that goes by the name of Boiling Process which is made up of artists from Tijuana and Los Angeles. Her work has been shown in various cities like Tijuana, Los Angeles, Mexicali, San Diego and Vienna.

Mark Hirsch

Mark Hirsch describes himself as an InterArtist, communicating in languages of sound, visualization, code, and design to realize his ideas. His work fosters environments where a greater awareness of self, space, and time can be experienced. Through his work, Hirsch seeks to use experimental technology to create new connections between seemingly unrelated elements of daily life. The interactive nature of his projects lends a degree of intimacy to the often cold, impersonal aesthetic of digital technology. A native of the American Midwest, Hirsch currently resides in Santa Barbara, CA where he is pursuing a PhD in Media Arts & Technology at UCSB

Gretchen Hofman

Dr. Gretchen Hofmann is a marine biologist whose research focuses on the responses of marine species to future ocean change such as ocean acidification and ocean warming. Working in places as diverse as the coastal oceans of California and Antarctic waters, Dr. Hofmann and her lab group are trying to understand whether and how marine species can adapt to future changes in the ocean. Studies in the lab focus on how organisms work in the face of these changes, whether species have the physiological flexibility to respond to future oceans and whether adaption is possible.
