In celebration of the centennial of the
National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Building, join us for a conversation about
the intersection of science and Art Deco. The program features short talks by
each speaker, time for audience discussion and community share, and time to
explore the NAS Building which opened 100 years ago in April 1924.
DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous (DASER) is organized to explore several key questions: What are the relationships among art, science, technology, culture, and all related disciplines or systems of understanding? How do these disciplines relate to one another to foster creativity, innovation, and discovery? What are the tangible results of these interactions? DASER aims to create community and discussion around the intersection of art and science.
SPEAKERS BIOS
The event features talks by Anna L. Kupik, president, International Hildreth Meière Association and great-grandaughter of artist Hildreth Meière; Thomas Burnett, assistant director of communications, John Templeton Foundation; Steve Knight, president, Art Deco Society of Washington; and Caroline Mesrobian Hickman, lecturer, School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, University of Maryland.
