OLIVIA TING WINS 2024 GLOBAL ASIAN CREATIVE AWARD

Leonardo Criptech Artist Olivia Ting has won first place in the film category at the 2024 Global Asian Creative Awards for her short film Song Without Words. Ting's film is a poignant exploration of communication beyond verbal language, masterfully intertwining visual and auditory elements to convey deep emotional narratives. This award highlights Ting's exceptional talent and her ability to push the boundaries of conventional storytelling.

Olivia Ting's recognition at the Global Asian Creative Awards is a testament to her innovative work supported by the Leonardo Criptech Incubator. Launched in 2021, the Incubator has been a pivotal platform for artists like Ting, providing them with the resources and community to develop groundbreaking projects at the intersection of art, disability, and technology. The Criptech Incubator is dedicated to empowering disabled artists by fostering an inclusive environment that supports creativity and technological innovation. By offering residencies, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge tools, Criptech uplifts disabled artists, allowing them to explore new dimensions in their work and challenge societal perceptions of disability.

Ting’s contributions to Leonardo include publishing the artist article “Between Piano and Forte: Hearing with Aids” in Leonardo Volume 57, Issue 2, where she connects reviving her piano practice after a 20-year hiatus with her deaf right ear “learning” to hear again with a cochlear implant. Her success not only showcases her individual artistry but also underscores the vital role of inclusive and diverse creative initiatives in the global art landscape.
