Scott Simon is a musician and an Information Scientist from the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of South Florida. He completed studies in both Music Performance and Music Information Retrieval while earning his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Information Science in 2005 at the University of North Texas.
Scott combines his background in music performance and information technologies in his exploratory, innovative research. For example, his dissertation explores a method for quantifying information in jazz improvisation transcriptions for music analysis and retrieval, with a model of information flow in jazz performance.
