Tara Rodgers is a musician, composer and scholar. Currently an Assistant Professor of Women's Studies and a Distinguished Faculty Fellow in Digital Cultures & Creativity at the University of Maryland, she holds an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College and a PhD in Communication Studies from McGill University. Her collection of interviews, Pink Noises: Women on Electronic Music and Sound (Duke University Press, 2010) won the 2011 Pauline Alderman Book Award from the International Alliance for Women in Music; other publications appear in Leonardo Music Journal, Leonardo Electronic Almanac, American Quarterly, differences, and Organised Sound. She is presently researching a cultural history of synthesized sound. Her compositions, ranging from multichannel sound installations created in SuperCollider to electronic dance music performed on MIDI instruments, have been presented internationally. http://www.pinknoises.com/
