Jin Wan Park is currently a full-time professor of the GSAIM dep. at Chung-Ang University in South Korea. He has an interdisciplinary educational history, from engineering to fine arts. He received his BS degree in computer science major from Chung-Ang University in 1995 and his MFA from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) with a computer animation and interactive media major in 1998. The same year, his animation °ÆBUG°Ø was selected for the Electronic Theater Program of the animation festival at SIGGRAPH. After graduation, he worked as an art director (CWI, NJ, 1998-2003) for 5 years. From 2002 to 2003 he taught a virtual reality and game graphics course at Pratt Institute as visiting instructor before joining Chung-Ang University. As an artist and scientist he has focused his research on the study of a new form of artistic expression that is only possible through scientific research. He exhibited a series of artworks based on his algorithm in art galleries and art magazines. His recently published digital artworks can be found in Epson Digital Imaging Contest 2004, SIGGRAPH 2004 (Sketch: °ÆMosaic for Stackable Object°Ø), Leonardo vol. 38 issue 2 2005 (°ÆThe Coinage Project #1: Time Is Money°Ø), SIGGRAPH 2006 (Special Program in Guerilla Studio and Sketch: °ÆPainterly Rendering with Designed Imperfection°Ø), SIGGRAPH 2007 (Art Gallery: °ÆVisual Genealogy°Ø), Japan Media Art Festival 2007 (°ÆVisual Genealogy #2°Ø), and SIGGRAPH 2009 (Art Gallery: °ÆVisual Genealogy- Mr. PARK Myrang-Hwarok Clan°Ø). His research is focused on digital art and procedural animation.
