Pery Burge is a Cornish artist who studied at London and Cambridge.
She is an Associate Member of the National Society of Painters,
Sculptors and Printmakers. In the 1990s she developed techniques for
creating abstract landscapes, using ink on paper without a brush, and
exhibited her work in solo exhibitions across the UK. Her interest in
painting by invoking natural forces then led her to experiment with
ink in water, initially visualizing turbulence and rotation, then
exploring the phenomenon of radial spread. In 2006 she presented her
radial spread photography at the 12th International Symposium for
Flow Visualization in Gottingen, Germany, and now continues to work
in the same area of artistic flow visualization.
Her latest work can be seen at http://www.chronoscapes.co.uk.
Current projects include exploring the physical, mathematical and
chemical aspects of radial spreads in collaboration with interested
scientists, and preparing new art for forthcoming exhibitions in
Menier Gallery, London, and Explore-at-Bristol. She is also
preparing a book about her artistic practice and aims to incorporate
contributions focussing on the science of radial spreads.
