GLOBAL WARNING Symposium Videos Now Available for Viewing

Video documentation of the talks from Day 1 of the GLOBAL WARNING Symposium are now available for viewing. The two-day symposium, which took place September 16–17, 2010, in conjunction with the 2010 01SJ Biennial in San Jose, CA examined the interconnectedness of ideas and actions and the current relationships between art-making, science and ecology. A group of distinguished artists, scientists and policy-makers presented and examined case studies of collaborative environmental art projects. Find out more

The Leonardo Education and Art Forum will be hosting two workshops at ISEA 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. Brain Drain/ Brain Gain (16 September), led by Nina Czegledy, will provide the opportunity to discuss new strategies and models of production adopted by professionals and students working at the intersection of art, science and technology in the face of transforming economic and cultural landscapes. The Transdisciplinary Visual Arts, Science & Technology Renewal Post-New Media Assimilation Workshop (17 September) will provide a forum for addressing and sharing experiences and difficulties encountered while developing transdisciplinary art-science research and when teaching and meshing curricula from diverse fields. Leonardo/ISAST is pleased to announce that the MediaArtHistories program at Donau Universitat Krems has renewed its affiliate membership with Leonardo/ISAST. The postgraduate program MediaArtHistories at the Department for Image Science at Donau Universitat Krems offers a two-year low-residency M.A. degree and is based on the international praxis and expertise in curation, collecting, preserving & archiving and researching in the media arts. Call for Participation
Hypothesis: An Art/ Science Fair at The Lab, San Francisco

The Lab invites artists, scientists, writers, musicians, performers, theorists, and other makers to participate in Hypothesis: An Art/ Science Fair to be held on November 5, 2011 in conjunction with the Bay Area Science Festival. Participants will present their practice in the form of a traditional science fair display, using the “scientific method” to: define a question or concept, gather information and observations, form a hypothesis, explain experiments and processes, analyze data or processes, and draw a conclusion.
